A List of All of My Business Failures to Date

I’ve never done this before, but I thought it would be helpful for you to see how much failures it takes to see big success in your online biz. One of the biggest problems I see in this industry is a complete lack of transparency in terms of what all of these numbers actually mean. We think that when we didn’t sell on a launch that we’re a failure, or that if we don’t have a 4:1 conversion rate on our sales calls that there’s something inherently wrong with us. Or that those 10k months happen instantly, without any prior investments or debt coming into our businesses to create them. Spoiler alert-- business PROFITS are very different from a lot of those very big figures you see out there-- you really do have to spend money to make money.

I’ve experienced moments in my biz where I legitimately thought that I was somehow being punished by the universe— or that someone was performing some sort of legit witchery that I was the victim of...can you relate?

Thankfully I later learned that the universe never ever punishes you and that no one actually energetically hacked into my email system or my website to create said witchery. Phew.

After lots of support and perseverance I later realized that my failures in business were actually a good thing and I — wait for it— was actually GRATEFUL for all of the pitfalls that taught me big lessons about how I wanted to grow my business going forward.

Here are about 1/10th of my business failures that have allowed me to get to a place of making a massively successful and profitable business

  • My first group program undersold horrendously
  • My 2nd group program was cancelled because of under enrollment
  • My first email sequence didn’t get me any clients
  • Neither did the 2nd, 3rd 4th and 5th versions
  • No one bought my first online program
  • I once had a free assessment conversion rate of 10:1 (talk about exhaustion!)
  • I’ve undersold my target with a weekly email about at least 20 times
  • Hundreds of dollars “lost” in low converting Facebook ads
  • Countless no shows to my free calls and discovery calls (these are just UGH)
  • Invested in the wrong Facebook ad audience 3 different times
  • Invested in a coach who told me to stop doing things that were going WELL in my business (and listened to her!)
  • Low converting challenges
  • Flash sales that didn’t hit industry averages
  • High unsubscribe rates on many, many sales emails

Like I said, this is probably only 1/10th of the failures I’ve experienced in my business. The best part all of it all is that I’ve actually learned SO MUCH from all of these experiences. There are many things in the above list that I do much differently and much more successfully now as a result of these lessons. Allow me to now explain those

  • I created a kickass membership site after my group program fail that my community LOVED
  • I started signing on clients every single month from carefully thought out copy that totally connected with my ideal clients
  • I rebranded my first online program and when I relaunched it I ended up hitting a much higher than industry average conversion rate on it (read-- my community LOVED it!)
  • I started owning my value and worth as a coach and stopped getting on the phone with anyone and everyone, taking that 10:1 ratio to a 3:1
  • Flash sales and launches that gave me $500-$1000 in passive income every month
  • Investing in the RIGHT ads with audiences that totally connected with my message
  • Coaches who I felt totally aligned with and helped me through some of the thickest limiting beliefs I didn’t even know I had...and creating my first 7k month as a result!

I hope this helps you put your own “failures” into perspective.

All failures are redirections, once you understand the divine lessons in each one of them, you will become unstoppable.
