I remember my first Facebook live like it was yesterday. I really wanted to invite more people into my summit, but I was so scared. Getting visible in business seemed like an impossible task for me.
So I asked one of my friends to watch me and hit the live button as my entire arm shook frantically while I did it. All I kept thinking was what all of my friends and family who were watching the live were thinking.
Are they judging me?
Do they think I’m a loser?
Why do they care about what I have to say, anyways?
These questions ran through my head pretty much the entire time. And after I did the video, I was so embarrassed by the shaking that I deleted it and immediately did it over again. Which is such a bummer by the way because I would have loved to show you!
It wasn’t just Facebook live I was nervous about. I felt like vomiting the first time I put my “about me” page up on my site and really needed to propel myself to even start a Facebook page in the first place. Being visible in business meant that I needed to share a very raw and vulnerable part of myself, I was so afraid of being exposed!
But I did it all anyways. Even if it felt like I was about to vomit every time I hit publish because I know that there was someone out there who needed to hear it.
And I knew that my purpose was much greater than my fear.
You know what happened? After finally putting myself out there and being visible in business I started getting emails almost every single day from women who felt very connected to my story. Other women who I knew reached out asking for help. And I connected on a much deeper level with my community.
Fast forward three years and being visible raw and vulnerable doesn’t feel the same way at all. It feels empowering and bold. I feel totally natural on my live streams and like I’m really connecting with my community.
Because I am.
And YOU will, too.
Being visible in business is almost like a bandaid you need to rip off. As soon as you do, things just get easier. And trust me when I say that the more that you share with your community, the more comfortable they will be to share with (and purchase from) you. (Read here about how to be more confident in your business even if you don’t feel confident at all!)
Always remember that your purpose is much greater than any fears that you have. You were meant to do beautiful things. Don’t let something silly like what will other people think stop you.
You’ve got this.
